Many people today, when they hear the word Tithe, they automatically think of money. "I give my 10 percent", or "Those preachers are always needing money". That's not exactly where a I am going with this. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 12:11 " There you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the heave offerings of your hand, and all your choice offerings which you vow to the LORD". Why would I not tithe my time? Over the past couple of weeks God has been dealing with me about tithing my time with him. More specifically, stop complaining about the church and the situations you are in and seek my face.
Calculate the amount of time you spend in service, at church, on your face before God. People wonder why their church is not growing, why they feel Sunday is just another day, they can walk into church, spend 3 hours and walk out just as dry as they walked in. Most churches today have omitted Sunday night worship. We are tithing our time to something other than God. Just think about it, Monday night, basketball all star game, tied up 20 - 20 and going into overtime at 9:00pm. Your child has the opportunity to help win this game. Are you pulling him out and going home because he has school the next morning? Are you complaining about how long the game is taking? We have no problem shutting the movement of God down in our church services because we'll miss lunch, or we'll miss that college game coming on at noon.
We need the same dedication our grandfathers had, nothing was more important than God. Nothing was more important than seeking the face of Jesus. As a child, I can remember church services where the power of God was so strong that we would not get home until midnight. People on their face before God. They prayed until the answer came. They had a burning desire to reach Him.
Men have taken a backseat to spiritual things at home and in our churches. There is a God appointed position for men in their homes and churches. If you want a church on fire for God, you must have MEN on fire, interceding, demanding fire from heaven to fall. If a generation is to be reformed, we must have reformed men. As Christian men, we must seek the face of God. Give Him our time, our talents and our praise.
